The ingredients needed to prepare Oats Upma:
  1. Take 1 cup oats
  2. Take 1 tsp. ghee
  3. Take 2 tbsp. oil
  4. Get 1 dry red chilli
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
  6. Take 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  7. Use 1 tsp. urad dal
  8. You need 1 tbsp. chana dal
  9. Take 1/4 tsp. asafoetida
  10. Use 1 onion, chopped
  11. Prepare 1 tsp. ginger, grated
  12. Use 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  13. Get 1 sprig curry leaves
  14. You need to taste salt
  15. Take 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  16. Get 1 tbsp. sambar powder
  17. Take 1/4 cup boiled & shredded chicken
  18. Use 1/4 cup mixed sprouts, steamed
  19. Use 1 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions to make Oats Upma:
  1. Heat the ghee in a pan and roast the oats for a minute till you get a nice aroma. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil and temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chilli. After it stops spluttering, add urad dal, asafoetida and chana dal. Saute till the dal changes colour.
  3. Add the onion, ginger, curry leaves and green chilies. Saute till light brown. Now add all the dry spices and give it a toss.
  4. Add the sprouts and chicken. Mix well and saute for a minute. Add the oats and 1 cup water. Cook, on a low flame till it thickens.
  5. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with coconut chutney for a nice healthy breakfast.

Then add chana dal and saute for few seconds, then add urad dal and saute till both dal turns light brown in color. Method for making Oats Upma Heat oil and ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add mustard seeds and allow to splutter. Add whole spices, cashew nuts and curry leaves and saute for a minute on low to medium flame.
